A Family Tradition of Amazonian Plant Medicine, Passed Down Through Generations

Welcome to Yachay Wasi, the House of Knowledge.

Our family-run Ayahuasca retreat sits deep in the Peruvian Amazon, around three and a half hours by boat from Iquitos, Peru.

Here, the jungle surrounds you. The river becomes part of the journey. And generations of Amazonian knowledge continue to live on.

Yachay Wasi is more than a retreat center. It is our home.

It is where our family continues a tradition of Amazonian plant medicine that has been passed down from one generation to the next.

A Family Tradition That Continues Today

At the heart of Yachay Wasi is the legacy of Maestro Don Rómulo Magin.

Throughout his life, Don Rómulo dedicated himself to the traditions and healing practices of the Amazon. Over time, he shared his knowledge with his son, Don Winister Magin.

Today, Don Winister continues that work alongside his son, Don Winister Junior.

Together, they carry this family tradition forward.

Our family and team bring more than 130 years of combined knowledge and experience to Yachay Wasi. More importantly, we approach this work with care, responsibility, and deep respect for the traditions that guide us.

This is not something we created for visitors.

It is a way of life that has shaped our family for generations.

A Traditional Ayahuasca Retreat Near Iquitos, Peru

Many people come to the Amazon looking for something they cannot find in everyday life. Some seek clarity. Others seek emotional release or personal insight. Some simply feel called to reconnect with themselves and nature.

At Yachay Wasi, we welcome each person as an individual.

Our Ayahuasca center in Peru take place in a peaceful and natural setting, far from the noise and distractions of everyday life. Here, you can slow down, reflect, and immerse yourself in the Amazon rainforest.

However, the journey is about more than the ceremonies. We also believe in the importance of preparation, rest, reflection, and integration.

For this reason, our team provides personal guidance throughout your stay. We take the time to get to know our guests and support them throughout their experience.

Healing Rooted in Amazonian Tradition

At Yachay Wasi, we approach Ayahuasca ceremonies and traditional healing practices with care and respect. Our work draws on generations of experience with Amazonian plant medicine. At the same time, we understand that every person’s journey is different. There is no single path.

Each guest arrives with their own experiences, questions, intentions, and hopes. Therefore, we believe personal attention matters. The jungle also plays an important role in the experience. The sounds of the rainforest. The movement of the river. The presence of the plants.

Together, they create a space where you can step away from your usual routines and focus on your journey.

Beyond the Ceremony

The ceremony is an important part of the experience. However, the journey does not end when the ceremony is over. That is why integration is an essential part of our approach.

After your ceremonies, you have time to rest, reflect, and process your experiences. You can also speak with our team and receive personal support throughout your stay.

In addition, the peaceful environment of our center gives you space to simply be present. There is no need to rush. Instead, you can take time to listen, reflect, and reconnect.

Ayahuasca Retreats and Master Plant Dietas

Yachay Wasi offers different opportunities to experience traditional Amazonian plant medicine in the heart of the Peruvian rainforest. You may join us for an Ayahuasca retreat, a traditional master plant dieta, or a more personalized experience. Each path offers something different.

However, they all share the same foundation: respect for the traditions, respect for the plants, and personal attention to each guest. Because every journey is unique, we encourage you to explore the different experiences we offer and find the one that feels right for you.

The Legacy of Maestro Don Rómulo

Yachay Wasi exists because of the knowledge, dedication, and life work of Maestro Don Rómulo Magin.

His teachings continue to guide our family today.

Your Home in the Peruvian Amazon

The name Yachay Wasi means “House of Knowledge” in Quechua. For us, knowledge does not exist only in books. It lives in experience. It lives in the relationship between people, plants, and the Amazon. And it lives in the knowledge that passes from one generation to the next.

Our center is located deep in the Peruvian Amazon, accessible by boat from Iquitos. Here, surrounded by rainforest and far from the distractions of modern life, you have the opportunity to slow down and reconnect.

I spent four weeks there, and I am very grateful for that time.

During those four weeks, I followed a shamanic plant-based diet for three weeks and participated in ayahuasca ceremonies for one week. Both experiences were different and very clarifying for me. I was able to re-examine and transform many life issues and am now at peace with them.

The support on-site was excellent. The team was always available. They were always there to listen and show understanding, and sharing my thoughts deepened the process.
On a physical level, I received excellent support. In addition to herbal medicine, sauna, and healing baths, the underlying principles were always clear in the guidance.

I have done and experienced a lot in my life, and I must honestly say that this experience has truly moved me forward on my path.

It certainly won't be the last time, because the peace and clear, open perspective on issues can be truly addictive.

Back in Germany, I still feel clear and grounded. Calm has returned, and self-love has grown.

Thank you three wonderful people, Windsor, Junior, and Alix!

...and perhaps a small addendum—the Centro is beautifully situated, with simple, small, and very charming cottages. If anything is missing or if anything would enhance your stay, they will take care of it. Hotel pick-up is seamless, and the return trip is also arranged.

So, the journey is long AND highly recommended!

Winister & Junior are without a doubt the best curanderos I have ever met and worked with. Me and my partner did a dieta with master plants at Yachay Wasi. While this is an intense and profound process, we felt their professinality and deep knowledge in every step of the way. We felt very cared for and very safe. They were truly engaged in our process and always gave us their full attention. We felt that they really work from a place of love, out of a passion for healing and from a profound connection with the plants and their ancestral knowledge. Never have we encountered such mastery and such beauty. The healing we found here was powerful and profound, and we cannot thank them enough. After working with Yachay Wasi, we wouldn't want to go through this process with anyone else.

A profound and healing experience, they do great and respectful work! Excellent ceremonies and all their treatments and care during the master plant diet. They took wonderful care of me throughout the diet. Great hosts, very open and available to share their stories, knowledge, and medicines. Highly recommended, I have complete confidence in them. The center is very beautiful, magical, and safe. Thanks to Master Winister and Junior for being my guides and healers during my diet, and also to Alix for her availability and support.

It is quite difficult to put into words my personal experience but what i can say it was everything i hoped for and more... Something that has definitely changed me for the better. To get to the retreat we had a boat ride on the amazon for several hours from Iquitos then a 30 min walk into the jungle. The scenery is amazing, the constant noise of the wildlife is so relaxing, i felt at home the minute i arrived. The set up they have is better than expected with sink, toilet and shower available along with your bed and a hammock which i used every day. I have been to retreat previously in Spain which was good but you cannot compare the 2. The experience of being in the Jungle with a traditional approach passed down through 5 generations was exactly what was required. I was made to feel completely welcome with as much or little interaction as i required. The experience was what i needed and it was perfect, i would definitely recommend the retreat to anyone 100% from me .....Life Changing

If words existed in any language to express the profound gratitude I feel in every cell of my being for the diet I'm currently enjoying, they surely wouldn't be enough! The cosmic, revelatory, and loving healing power of traditional Amazonian medicine, sustained by Winister, Junior, and Alix under the protection and blessing of Don Romulo, is a sure thing! Eternal blessings! I'll be back! Thank you!

Absolutely life-changing!

Yachay Wasi is by far the most powerful Ayahuasca center I’ve encountered in my 4.5 years living in the Peruvian Amazon. I’ve sat in many ceremonies across different centers, and nothing compares to the depth, authenticity, and love that is present here.

The location deep in the jungle is a true sanctuary for healing. The shamans – Don Romulo, Don Winister, and Winister Junior – are world-class. Their medicine is strong, their work is profound, and their presence is filled with wisdom, power, and compassion. What they offer is not just ceremony – it’s incredible transformational work that reaches deep into the soul.

The food is excellent, the environment is loving and safe, and the people you meet here become family. If you feel called to this path, I truly recommend Yachay Wasi. It’s the only place I’ll ever go for plant medicine work again.
